KIDS SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Registration for the Kid’s Summer Reading Program is now open!

Step 1: Register   

We have two registration options. This year we are using the platform Beanstack for online registration and to track your reading!

•OPTION 1: To register online, visit our Beanstack website or download the app on your smart device.

• Go to our Beanstack website:   galaxcarroll.beanstack.org
• Click on Register an Individual or Family in order to create an account.
• Fill in your info! Beanstack allows families to be linked together, so all family members can be accessed with one login.
• Then choose a Challenge that fits your age group. For kids choose the Summer 2024: CSLP Adventure Begins At Your Library (Children’s) challenge. This challenge will help you log your minutes.
• OR you can download the Beanstack Tracker app on your device’s app store.
  • After downloading, search for “Galax-Carroll Regional Library (VA),”
  • Click on our library and then create an account!

•OPTION 2: To register in person, come by the Galax or Carroll County Public Library, pick up a registration slip at the Youth desk at the Galax Public Library or near the front entrance at the Carroll County Public Library and submit your registration form at the Circulation Desk.

Step 2: Track Your Reading

For Kids: fill out a Kids Reading Log (whether through Beanstack or paper format) for every 10 minutes you read (1 sticker (or badge) = 10 minutes).

• Kids will count how many minutes they read or listen to books.
  • If a child reads to another child, the minutes may be counted for both children!
• Either fill out a Kids Reading Log (in person paper format) for every 10 minutes you’ve read or through Beanstack. With Beanstack after you register for a Challenge, find where it says Log Reading, then submit how many minutes and what you’ve read!
• Kids must read at least 300 minutes or more to receive a Prize Bag!
  • After you complete one reading log, keep reading and logging minutes in Beanstack or pick up another log at the library, Keep Reading!
• Participate in Fun Free events for Kids all summer long!
• We also have a fun free event going on in June, beginning June 10th-June 29th, called the Kindness Bingo!
  • Fill up to 5 spaces in a row, and you get to spin the prize wheel 1 time.  Fill out the whole sheet, and you get to spin the prize wheel 2 times! Bring your bingo sheet back by June 29th to spin the prize wheel!
• ALL logs & minutes recorded through Beanstack MUST be turned in by 5:00 pm on Monday, July 29th.
• Come pick up your PRIZE BAG for all of your AWESOME reading this Summer!  PRIZE BAGS may be picked up from August 5 – August 26!

Step 3: PRIZES!!

• Kids who have read at least 300 minutes, and have turned in their log or recorded minutes through Beanstack by 5:00 pm on Monday, July 29th, will get an AWESOME PRIZE BAG!
• PRIZE BAGS may be picked up from August 5 – August 26.
