Summer Reading
Here's how to get started with Kids Summer Reading
STEP 1: REGISTER
We have two registration options.
Option 1: To register online, visit our Beanstack website or download the app on your smart device.
- Go to our Beanstack website
- Click on Register an Individual or Family in order to create an account.
- Fill in your info! Beanstack allows families to be linked together, so all family members can be accessed with one login.
- Then choose a Challenge that fits your age group. Challenges will help you log your books (for adults) or minutes (for teens & kids).
- OR you can download the Beanstack Tracker app on your device’s app store.
- After downloading, search for “Galax-Carroll Regional Library (VA)”
- Click on our library and then create an account!
Option 2: To register in person, come by the Galax or Carroll County Public Library, pick up a registration slip at the Summer Reading Program display, and submit at the Circulation Desk. The Summer Reading Program is FREE!!!
STEP 2: READ & COUNT
Fill out a Kids Reading Log (whether through Beanstack or paper format) for every 15 minutes you read (1 sticker (or badge) = 15 minutes).
- Read whatever YOU like: Books, graphic novels, magazines, or listen to audiobooks!
- Keep track of minutes read on the reading log or online.
- ONE CIRCLE = 15 MINUTES
- Always keep reading!!!
- Once you have filled one log, turn it in to the library & pick up another log.
- Ages 0-12 must read, or be read to, for 500 minutes to receive a prize bag.
DON'T FORGET TO JOIN IN ON FUN ACTIVITIES ALL SUMMER LONG!!!
STEP 3: PRIZES
- Reading logs MUST be turned in by July 31st!
- Awesome prize bags may be picked up from August 5th - August 15th!

STEP 2: TRACK YOUR READING
Either fill out an Adult Entry Slip (in person paper format) for every book you’ve read or through Beanstack. With Beanstack after you register for a Challenge, find where it says Log Reading, then submit what books you’ve read! Participate in Fun Free events for Adults all summer long!
STEP 3: PRIZES
- Adult participants who fill out completed Entry Slips in person or through Beanstack will be eligible for winning a weekly drawing held every Monday at 12:00 pm.
- Entry forms will be removed after each weekly drawing and be saved for the grand prize drawing on Monday, August 3rd.
- The last day to to submit an entry for the Grand Prize Drawing is July 31st.
